SCHEDULE & INFORMATION

TUESDAY, APRIL 13 2027

A joyful pre-wedding ritual where a turmeric paste is applied to the bride and groom to symbolize purification, protection, and good luck. Traditionally, the paste is applied by married Hindu family members and close friends, passing on their blessings for a happy and prosperous marriage. Expect a playful and vibrant atmosphere filled with laughter, bright yellow colors, and celebration.

Location: Royal Dream Hall (MU, Schoenfeld Branch Rd, Rivière du Rempart 31114, Mauritius)

Dresscode: Relaxed in Yellow-colors. We invite everyone to wear yellow tones in a relaxed style, in line with the informal atmosphere from Day 1. Yellow is an important part of the tradition, so we encourage it to be the main color of your outfit.

For women, long summer dress or light trousers with a top are perfect choices. If you’d like to embrace the occasion, traditional attire (such as sari, lehenga, or churidar) is also very welcome by everyone.

For men, think light and comfortable, such as long trousers paired with a shirt or polo. As local Mauritian men will likely not be wearing traditional outfits, we recommend the same for our international guests.

Atmosphere: As the Haldi ceremony is a traditional and symbolic ritual rooted in Mauritian culture, it is a non-alcoholic event.

Haldi: The Haldi ceremony is a traditional ritual where a turmeric paste is applied to the bride and groom, symbolizing purification, blessings, and making them “glow” ahead of the wedding. Guests are very welcome to observe and enjoy the moment; however, the application of the paste is traditionally reserved for married Hindu close family members. Please also note that once the turmeric has been applied, guests are kindly asked not to touch, hug, or kiss the bride and groom for the remainder of the evening, as this is part of the tradition and is believed to protect against negativity.

Leaving Early: If you arrive by bus and wish to leave earlier, our wedding planner, Keshav, will be on-site to help arrange transportation, and a driver can be coordinated on the day.
